UT Martin added a bachelor’s degree program in agricultural business after the UT Board of Trustees approved the proposal during its June 2018 meeting. This is the university’s 18th bachelor’s degree program and expands the previous agricultural business concentration under the general agriculture degree. Students may now earn a specialized agricultural business degree with concentrations in areas such as agricultural marketing or agricultural finance.
Celebrating 20 Years
The UT Martin McNairy County Center/Selmer celebrated 20 years of operation Sept. 27 with a luncheon and open house. The center, which opened in 1998, was the first of UT Martin’s five educational outreach centers.
Special Education Speakers Strive to Motivate
National motivational speakers H.K. Derryberry and Jim Bradford spoke Oct. 23 at UT Martin as part of the annual Bettie Graham Special Education Seminar. Derryberry is blind and lives with cerebral palsy after a car accident in 1990 resulted in his premature birth and other health conditions. He also has hyperthymesia—superior autobiographical memory—and can recall every event that has happened to him. Bradford, a businessman from Brentwood, met Derryberry when the latter was 9 years old, and the two have been friends ever since. The pair have made more than 175 appearances and spoken to more than 40,000 people since 2012.
