University Launches Marketing Campaign

Where in Tennessee can you go to find the presence or impact of the University of Tennessee system?

(Practically) everywhere, of course. And that’s the thinking behind the “Everywhere You Look, UT” campaign.

The statewide, comprehensive, collective impact of UT campuses, institutes, experts and enterprises statewide is the subject of the multimedia marketing campaign that launched March 5.

The first system-level marketing effort since 2006, the “Everywhere You Look, UT” campaign highlights the enduring, distinctive stature of the statewide UT system and its contributions to all Tennesseans.

“The University of Tennessee system is far more than a statewide collection of college campuses, state-of-the-art research laboratories and specialized institutes, and an outreach powerhouse,” says UT President Joe DiPietro. “The University of Tennessee is Tennessee. We are woven into the very fabric of life in the state. We transform lives through higher education and serve Tennesseans in all walks of life—hundreds of thousands every year.”

Intended to increase recognition and awareness of the statewide, connected nature of the UT system and its value to the state, the campaign kicked off in March with a series of print, billboard, radio and social media advertising to appear across the state through the end of May. Two subsequent series of advertising are planned to follow in fall 2018 and January 2019.

“Criticism and scrutiny are facts of life for a public institution as visible and consequential as the University of Tennessee, and I believe this is a highly engaging, highly effective campaign to remind our stakeholders of the vast good done by their university for all Tennesseans,” DiPietro says. “I’ve witnessed the organic nature of the campaign to spread its messages by serving as a resource to our advocates who have embraced and further shared the powerful stories of our UT impact.”
