What do you call it when editors get in a room to talk about writing, editing, designing, social media and food? The 2014 CASE Editors Forum.
CASE is the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. This annual conference is a must for editors of university and alumni magazines such as Tennessee Alumnus. This is my second time to go to the Editors Forum, and I am excited to learn about ways to make the magazine better. The conference agenda is packed with great speakers and interesting sessions. After the last conference, I felt like my head with swimming with ideas. It is exciting to learn what other magazines are doing, and that everyone is trying to be better with limited resources. I am really grateful to get to attend this conference.
I would be remiss if I did not mention that the conference is in New Orleans, but I assure you it will be more work than play (OK, maybe about 60-40). And if you see tweets about food and other wonderful offerings of the Big Easy, don’t be alarmed. There are social media contests for these, and I need to practice social media engagement. And who doesn’t like to read about travel and food?
