Learn how natural forces created and continue to shape mountains across the globe at the Frank H. McClung Museum at UT Knoxville. “Continents Collide: The Appalachians and Himalayas” is a new exhibit that runs from Jan. 14 to May 20. The exhibit is curated by Robert Hatcher and Micah Jessup, professors in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences who are experts on structural geology and tectonics. Devastating events such as the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and the earthquake in Haiti were caused by similar plate tectonic forces that led to the formation of these mountain chains.
