Although the University of Tennessee reached its goal of $1 billion for the Campaign for Tennessee last year, the campaign continues. Now more than ever, private dollars are needed to advance the university. With less than 30 percent of UT’s budget now being provided by the state, private gifts are essential for the university to continue to improve and enhance its programs.
All campuses and institutes have exceeded their goals and are continuing to press forward. As of April, more than $1.1 billion had been raised since January 1, 2005.
“As the university’s needs grow, and especially with our scarce state resources, it’s important to continue our private fund-raising efforts and see the Campaign for Tennessee to its end date,” said UT President Joe DiPietro.
