Work Begins at Cherokee Farm

Initial infrastructure work began in June on Cherokee Farm, UT’s interdisciplinary research campus on Alcoa Highway adjacent to the university’s Knoxville campus.

EMJ Construction of Chattanooga was awarded the contract to oversee the initial infrastructure development and site prep, which includes site grading, road, and utilities. The work is expected to take less than 2 years to complete.

“The beginning of this work is a major step in bringing the Cherokee Farm vision to reality,” said David Millhorn, UT executive vice-president and vice-president for research and economic development. “Cherokee Farm will bring together an unrivaled array of opportunities and offer potential private industry partners access to globally recognized expertise and facilities that are not collectively available anywhere else in the world.”
