UT Martin is the safest four-year public institution in Tennessee, according to statewide crime statistics. And when crimes do happen, the UT Martin Department of Public Safety has one of the best crime clearance rates.
According to statistics for 2009 released by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, UT Martin had the fewest reported offenses per 1,000 population among UT and Tennessee Board of Regents institutions. UT Martin’s clearance rate (cases solved) was almost double the statewide average of 28 percent for those same institutions.
Scott Robbins, UT Martin director of public safety, says students, faculty, and staff look out for one another. “Our greatest asset toward maintaining a low crime rate continues to be the great folks who attend school and work at UT Martin and their genuine concern for the safety and welfare of others.”
