Celebrating Chattanooga

As UT Chattanooga looks forward to a bright future, it’s honoring its past with a 125th anniversary celebration. Events are planned through May 2012 for students, members of the faculty and staff, alumni, and the community.

“UTC is Chattanooga’s university, and the entire community has been invited to celebrate this important milestone,” said Dr. Carolyn Thompson, wife of UTC Chancellor Roger Brown and anniversary co-chair.

UTC’s Founders Day will be celebrated September 15, 2011, with birthday festivities, a convocation, and a gala.

Pulitzer Prize–winning photographer and alumnus Robin Hood (Chattanooga ’66) has been commissioned to create a commemorative book about the campus that will be ready in time for the Founders Day gala.

“We are building on events UTC had already planned, making them a bit bigger and better,” said Kari Oldham, wife of UTC Provost Phil Oldham and anniversary co-chair. “We want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to participate in some aspect of the anniversary.”
